Meghan Markle can now add author to her resume and PR pitch, as the former actor has recently penned a book about the relationship between fathers and sons. It’s called “The Bench.”

Due to her inflated ego, the Duchess of Montecito apparently fails to see the irony of a woman who doesn’t have a relationship with her father and has likely contributed to the fractured relationship between her husband and his father, writing a book discussing this time-honored relationship. Also, as a woman, how much can she really speak into a relationship between fathers and sons, as she’s only witnessed one for only about two years.

On the face of it, the whole enterprise is laughable and almost borders on a joke.

Meghan has shared that the book evolved from a poem she wrote for Harry on his first Father’s Day, less than two years ago. 

She said, “That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolour illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me, and Christian and I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens. 

“My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

The book will be “inclusive,” what isn’t these days, and will portray a “diverse group of fathers and sons.” For those that enjoy paying five dollars to listen to her sanctimonious voice, there is also an audio book available for the picture book.

One illustration, in which a redhead in an American-styled military uniform is throwing his son up in the air, reads, “This is your bench, Where life begins, For you and our son, our baby.” The mother in the picture crying clearly seems like a reference to Meghan.

Again, the whole thing seems rather farcical. 

She currently has no relationship with her father, Thomas, who she’s publicly trashed and shunned, along with every blood-relation Markle that she has and all the relatives on her mother’s side, save her mom. Her husband is now estranged from his entire family, including his father, publicly criticizing them and calling them racists. 

How in the world does she have any right to think that she can speak into this topic?

It’s like asking a couple who’s been married for only two years to write a book on long-lasting relationships. Ask someone when they’ve reached 10, 15, 25, 40 or 70 years of marriage how to make it last in good and bad times. A couple, like parents, who are only two or three years into the process have a long way to go before claiming authority on lasting relationships and parenting.

Yet, she did it, while continuing to use the title given to her by the family she supposedly despises.

Piers Morgan said it best, “Ah, of course: ‘Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.’

“Yes, she continues to cynically exploit her royal titles because she knows that’s the only reason anyone is paying her vast sums of money to spew her uniquely unctuous brand of pious hectoring gibberish in Netflix documentaries, Spotify podcasts or children’s books.

“Of course, her equally cynical publishers don’t give a damn about any of this shocking double standard.”

It’s rather pathetic. The only reason anyone cares about what she thinks about anything is because of the man she married. That she fails to see the irony and the reality that she is quickly becoming somewhat of a laughingstock, is a reflection on her desperation for continued relevance and infamy.

This may result in a somewhat big payout for her, as her sycophantic fans will no doubt eat it up, but in the end, like the Oprah interview and so many other things the Sussex’s do, in the long run it will do more damage than good. This is especially true if the relationship between Harry and Archie or Meghan and Archie sours quite publicly.
