Days after the success of the Earthshot Prize, which is moving to the U.S. next year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are continuing to show Prince Harry and Meghan Markle how it’s done when it comes to royalty.

Prince William and Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge, are the future monarchs of the United Kingdom, and it seems like they are finally taking those roles more and more seriously. This is clearly seen with the Earthshot Prize, a competition encouraging men and women to submit ideas to help address the issue of climate change. 

As part of those efforts, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge gave ‘People Magazine’ exclusive access and will be featured on the front page of this week’s edition.

What’s even more interesting, is that the vast majority of those pictures are in black and white, a favorite motif of Harry and Meghan. In fact, they’ve made this a crucial part of their branding. 

From their engagement, wedding and Christmas card pictures to the announcement of Meghan’s second pregnancy. They have really tried to make their public brand synonymous with the stylistic, evocative and timeless look of a black and white picture.

But in one fell swoop, Catherine and William out did the California couple with a couple of impressive, gorgeous and exclusive photos provided to ‘People Magazine.’

The couple shared some intimate moments in the pictures, with the future Queen Consort at one point seen with her hand on the back of her husband. There was also a sweet scene with Catherine seemingly calming down Emma Thompson who was about to go on stage, or perhaps it was the other way around.

Either way, the photos demonstrated how much the couple, especially Catherine, have grown into their role as a Prince and Princess of Wales-in-waiting. 

Though there is perhaps no real difference between what Harry and Meghan and William and Catherine produce, there is something about the latter couple’s images that evoke a sense of wonder at the monarchy and the mystique of royalty.

Despite their incessant efforts, anything Harry and Meghan do always seems so self-serving and pretentious. 

In addition to taking a ‘People Magazine’ photo spread, Catherine and William are further attempting to encroach on Harry and Meghan’s territory by holding the next Earthshot Awards Prize in the United States. 

The ceremony, which will no doubt gather much interest, may or may not feature the Duke and Duchess of Montecito.

But it’s clear that the future king and queen are looking to reestablish their influence and profile in the states in order to combat the false narrative put forth by Harry and Meghan. And no doubt, if they play their cards right, it will work.

Americans love royalty—but real royalty, not pseudo royalty. If the entire Cambridge family makes an appearance, they will have the eyes of the world on them. In addition to Earthshot, a carefully crafted public relations campaign would also do incredibly well. 

It would remind the public that while Harry and Meghan might be in the news, but William, Catherine, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are the real royals.
