Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Hasty Decision to Leave the Royal Family Will Forever Damage Their Brand

In the first two years of their marriage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the Remembrance Sunday ceremonies, without anyone being the wiser about their plans to ditch the royal family for the lights of Hollywood. Almost two years later, it’s increasingly clear that that decision will forever damage Harry’s family bonds and their brand.

In the last month, Her Majesty The Queen has had several recent health issues. She’s been hospitalized and had to miss this Remembrance Ceremony, pulling out only two hours before the event was supposed to commence.

The royal family pulled together despite her absence and put on a strong display.

Where were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? Probably on a private jet flying back to California and talking about the latest content that they filmed for their Netflix documentary.

As time goes by and the ex-royal couple continue their pseudo tours in the United States, they look utterly disconnected from reality and just plain selfish.

If they are the great humanitarians that they claim, why could they not stay and work within the royal family in order to help an elderly woman who was on the brink of losing her husband? Why did they lie about wanting to live in Canada, move to Los Angeles, do a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey and everything else they’ve done over the last year?

Recently court filings in Meghan’s lawsuit against The Mail on Sunday show that she claims that she was the “primary caregiver to her grandmother” in the last few years of her life, but she couldn’t stick it out with the royal family to help take the burden off of an elderly woman in her mid-90s and her son, who is in his 70s?

Right now, the royal family could really use two pairs of extra, young hands to help represent the United Kingdom to the world.

But no, Harry and Meghan wanted to become Hollywood producers for a Netflix reality television show, where they wander around to whatever U.S. politician will indulge their desire for attention and listen as they prattle on as if they are actually important statesmen.

It’s sad, pathetic and just shows that Megxit was never about “finding freedom” or getting away from an allegedly racist atmosphere.

No, it was all about Meghan wanting that title so she could drag her husband across the Atlantic and use his money, royal heritage and influence to indulge her Hollywood dreams and delusions of grandeur.

As it stands now, especially if the Queen dies before her jubilee next year, it is a decision he will regret of the rest of his life, if he’s not already having second thoughts.

Instead of spending as much time as possible with his grandmother and allowing his children to know her, he’s been trapped in his Montecito mansion with them and his wife, where the only people who come by are “friends” of Meghan. They’re narcissistic Hollywood type people who only care about how a mutually beneficial relationship can put them ahead of the crowd.

Harry’s brand, and likely Meghan’s as well, will never, ever recover from this decision.

They already took a hit when it came out that Prince Philip was on his death bed during their Oprah Winfrey interview. Imagine if the Queen dies in the next few months. That will no doubt damage whatever they have planned via Netflix, Spotify (if anything ever comes of that) or Harry’s tell-all book.

Or worse, they could release something immensely damaging to the royal family only to have her die within a week. That would utterly destroy them on the international stage, and there would be tremendous accusations that they pushed the Queen into her grave.

For people across the world, family is critically important. It was a grave miscalculation on Harry and Meghan’s part to believe that leaving his family and using the excuse of racism would dismiss any criticism from their decisions. When people look back, they’ll remember Harry as a man who utterly abandoned his family for the selfish ambition of his wife, who cared neither for him or his grandmother.

Actions have consequences, and it’s about time Harry faces them for his relationship with Meghan Markle.
