Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, are going from strength to strength on the international stage. Is this worrying to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have been trying to establish their own pseudo monarchy in the U.S.?
The simple answer is yes.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were a strong show of force last week, which included a well-received Christmas charity concert that will debut on Christmas Eve in the U.K. and releasing a new picture of their whole family in time for the holiday.
It’s clear that the couple are settling into their roles as the future Prince and Princess of Wales, engaging with the public and developing their own charitable movements, including William’s Earthshot Prize and Kate’s Early Years Project.
Overall, Kate and William are taking the world by storm, but there’s one lingering issue.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The former royals, who are now based in California, have been doing everything they can to try and tarnish the British monarchy and pull focus from their relatives, the real working royals.
From the Oprah Winfrey interview, where Harry and Meghan alleged that one member of the royal family was a racist, to Prince Harry saying he doesn’t understand the First Amendment of the United States and sharing the supposed trauma he experienced as a royal, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have no idea what to expect next from the Duke and Duchess of Montecito.
To help protect the real royal brand against the next damaging statement, comment or action of the unpredictable duo in Montecito, William and Catherine are making some preemptive strikes.
Eric Schiffer, a brand expert, told Express.co.uk that Prince William’s decision to give an interview to the U.S. based People magazine about the Earthshot Prize: “William and Kate are highly aware of the strategic masterplan that Meghan and Harry appear to be following and they know it’s working in America and around the world.
“And that has to be a warning shot to them about their own authority and soft power at this point in their own story.
“So you are going to see more work done by William and Kate to touch and connect with the issues that matter to young people, not only in America but also in the UK and around the world.
“And that means the environment, it means more focus on equality – about which you’ll likely see William talk about in the future – and a focus on understanding and tuning into the sensitivities of this generation.”
This is exactly what William and Catherine should be doing, focusing on their work, growing their royal brand and connecting with people from the U.K. and around the world. Their work will no doubt help shield and protect the monarchy from whatever Harry and Meghan are going to come up with next.
