The Queen and Prince Charles apparently disagree on the best way to approach the situation with Prince Harry, with the monarch urging reconciliation and The Prince of Wales still having a hard time forgiving and forgetting after the Oprah Winfrey interview.
It’s possible that the future of the monarchy may be at stake.
The monarchy is in a very precarious position, especially with the explosive allegations leveled against the royal family by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Most explosively, it’s the accusation of racism that elicited the greatest public reaction, especially from the United States. While the vast majority of the couple’s claims have been disproven in the ensuing weeks, but since the racism assertion is hearsay, it is impossible to ever fully confirm nor deny.
There’s also the shocking reports that Meghan bullied her taxpayer funded royal staff members. As initially reported by The Times London, Meghan was belligerent and excessively demanding on members of her and Harry’s staff, especially female employees, reducing many to tears. Staffer Jason Knauf, who was so concerned by her behavior that he reported it to human resources, questioned if the monarchy has any way of disciplining principles, i.e., royals for outrageous conduct towards staff members.
It’s an interesting question, and, depending on the outcome of the investigation, could be raised again if the stories of working for Meghan and Harry were as harrowing as they seem.
In order to attempt to make the peace, the Queen is apparently urging Charles to reconcile with his LA-based son.
In an US Weekly report, which should probably be taken with a grain of salt, a source alleged, “With the way things are going, Charles may never forgive Harry, which hasn’t gone down well with Elizabeth.
“She feels that he’s putting his pride before the best interest of the monarchy.
“She has enough on her plate dealing with the loss of her husband. It’s drama she can do without.”
It’s understandable that the aging monarch wants peace in her final years, but it’s also reasonable for Prince Charles to express trepidation about reconciling with his son, as long as Meghan is still in the picture.
When Harry and his wife went on Oprah, they put his birth right at risk, one he’s been patiently waiting for 70 years to finally receive. The couple leveled a completely unsubstantiated and incredibly damaging claims against his family and didn’t clear Prince Charles nor Camilla from the supposedly racist comments.
Harry also continues to drag down the monarchy while he and his wife trade off their titles and the monarchy to secure multi-million-dollar deals and allow Meghan to finally live her Hollywood dream. The future King of the United Kingdom cannot ignore that fact and how they could continue to damage his claim to the throne in the future every time they use their titles, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in order to push their, well her, political agenda.
The US Weekly source continued, “By contrast, Prince William is taking steps to heal the rift with his younger brother – something the Queen approves.
“They’re definitely not at the point where they speak on a regular basis, but William wants to be the bigger person and set a precedent.”
This is very doubtful. Prince William has almost more cause than Prince Charles to freeze out his younger brother, as Harry’s wife told the world that Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge, made Meghan cry before her wedding during a bridesmaid fitting. Though details about it still remain unknown, most of the stories and rumors about the situation puts Meghan in a divisively negative light, with the bust up being as small as an issue over tights for the bridesmaids to a rumor that Meghan actually called Princess Charlotte “fat.”
The brothers reconciling, as long as Meghan remains in the picture, is highly unlikely.
In fact, reports indicate that the brothers are “not talking at the moment.”
This no doubt leaves the monarchy in a precarious state. Prince Charles can’t risk completely alienating Harry, as he will eventually come home with his tale between his legs, but he can’t it go on for too long either as the California couple could cause irreparable damage to the monarchy in the process.
Only time will tell how the family manages the situation.
