Kate Stuns and Prince William Looks Resplendent in Green Velvet at Earthshot Prize Ceremony

Tonight is the Earthshot award ceremony, and Prince William and Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge, looked stunning and stylish at the first ceremony of the prince’s new environmental award.

The Earthshot Prize is “The most prestigious global environment prize in history, designed to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years.”

Prince William has become a passionate advocate for environmental causes over the last several years, raising awareness about the effects of climate change.

In a TedTalk about the program, the future Prince of Wales said, “I’ve long been inspired by President John F Kennedy’s 1961 mission to put a man on the moon within a decade — he named it the moonshot.”

“We must harness that same spirit of human ingenuity and purpose and turn it with laser sharp focus and urgency on the most pressing challenge we have ever faced.”

As part of that effort, he’s offering $1.3 million every year in prizes for the next ten years to those who submit plans to help protect the planet.

This ceremony was the first of what will hopefully be several throughout the years, and it already seems like the even may become the Academy Awards of environmentalism.

The couple arrived looking stunning, and every inch the future king and Queen.

Catherine looked lovely and divine in a lilac Alexander McQueen dress that she first wore at BAFTA ceremony in Los Angeles during her brief tour of the United States in 2011.

Her hair was swept off to the side in curls, a unique look that she hasn’t displayed before.

In a way, it was a sign of how far she’s come. Ten years of marriage, three children and one Megxit later, she has really transformed from Kate Middleton to the future Princess of Wales and Queen Consort.

Prince William took a bit of a fashion risk, but looked incredibly handsome in a velvet green blazer and black turtleneck.

Some of the celebrities who attended include Emma Watson, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Emma Thompson and others.

Prince Charles also voice his support for his son, stating on Twitter, “I am very proud of my son, William, for his growing commitment to the environment and the bold ambition of the Earthshot Prize. As a world, we need to come together to inspire, reimagine and build the sustainable future we so desperately need.

“Over the coming decade, with future generations in mind, the Earthshot Prize, and its inspirational nominees, will help us find the innovative solutions. In parallel, through my Terra Carta and Sustainable Markets Initiative, we will work to mobilize the trillions of dollars required to transition the global economy onto a more sustainable trajectory. Together, with all those who join us, we have a real opportunity to deliver a brighter future for humanity while restoring harmony between Nature, People and Planet.”

Overall, it appears like an absolutely lovely event that will continue to influence for decades to come.

It also shows how young royals can use their voice to try and change to the world.
