Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, has some of the most iconic fashion moment of the last 20 or so years, ever since she started dating Prince William. The now duchess had a banner year in 2021, as she both recycled and shared some new fashion inspiration. Here are the 6 best Duchess of Cambridge looks of 2021.
#6 – Embroidered Cream Catherine Walker Coat Dress at Westminster Abbey on Day of Reflection
Marking the damaging effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the Duchess wore an embroidered cream Catherine Walker coat dress, which had a scalloped edge, to Westminister Abbey to mark the Day of Reflection. It was sophisticated and also has this dignified maturity to it, and something that the future queen can wear for decades to come. She also wore it only days before her 10th wedding anniversary.
She wore a pair of gold and diamond hoops, paired with some freshwater pearls. She carried a Metier Roma handbag in brown suede and pumps in a similar color, most likely from Jimmy Choo.
#5 – Holland Cooper Tartan Trench Coat with Gold Button Detail Worn During Drive-In Movie Event in Scotland
In a rather unique entry, the Duchess wore a purple and green tartan trench coat during a drive-in movie event in Scotland. Really running with the Scottish theme, the duchess paired this unique trench coat with a pair of Manolo Blahnik dark green velvet pumps. Apparenlty, she wore a metallic gold Joseph skirt underneath the dress.
Catherine wore her hair in a ponytail in order to show off a pair of impressive sapphire and diamond earrings loaned to her by the Queen. Part of a demi-parure loaned to her by the Queen, the earrings were gorgeous, with a massive solitary sapphire surrounded by a loop of diamonds. It was a bit of a risk, but such a fun look.
#4 – Kate Recycles Iconic Lilac Alexander McQueen Gown from Los Angeles Bafta Event
Debuting this look the first year of her marriage in 2011, the Duchess finally rewore her iconic lilac Alexander McQueen dress. She wore this during the Bafta event in LA, where the Duchess mingled with Hollywood for the first time.
She paired it with a pair of Oscar de la Renta pumps that she wore before with an Erdem dress, and a new belt from Jenny Packham, rather than repeating a previous look exactly from 2011. Changing up her hair, the duchess used a sideswipe that she repeated in the next entry.
Finally, she utilized one of her favorite jewelry brands Kiki McDonough earrings in Morganite.
#3 – Green Sequin Jenny Packham Dress at Royal Variety Show
The Duchess of Cambridge recycled her green sequin Jenny Packham dress from her tour of Pakistan when attending the Royal Variety Show with her husband, the Duke of Cambridge. She looked resplendent in the look, but the most notable thing is the Duchess’ side swipe hair, where her hair was swept to one side of her shoulder.
It appeared that the Duchess chose to accessorize the look with a pair of Emmy London Rebecca pumps in “greenery” and her Missoma fan detailed gold earrings.
The look was incredible, and brings back one of her best ensembles from the smashing success of the Pakistan tour.
#2 – Black Catherine Walker with Bow Detail for Prince Philip’s Funeral
While no funeral is about the fashion, the Duchess of Cambridge looked somber, appropriate and regal in a Catherine Walker coat dress with a bow detail. She paired it with a pair of black suede pumps and black tights.
She also wore a pearl necklace owned by the Queen, the Four Row Pearl Chocker, which has four strands of pearls and a diamond clasp. The Duchess previously wore it during the 70th anniversary dinner for the Queen and Prince Philip, so it was a sweet memorial. She also wore the Queen’s Bahrain Pearl and Diamond Drop Earrings, which were made from gifts given to the Queen on her wedding day in 1947.
Catherine wore the red version of this coat dress for her Christmas concert, “Together at Christmas,” in December.
#1 – Gold Jenny Packham Dress, James Bond “No Time to Die” Premier
In one of the best looks of her royal career, Catherine dazzled at the James Bond primer in a capped, sequined gold Jenny Packham dress. It was so incredible, Bond actor Daniel Craig told her, “You look jolly lovely.”
She accompanied the dress, which was a statement unto itself, with a lovely updo and Aquazzara gold pumps. She also wore a pair of statement O’NITAA earrings, which she first debuted on her state visit to Pakistan in 2019.
It was a showstopper look, and one of her best ever in her royal career. It was exciting and a reminder of the mystic, majesty and mystery of royalty.
