The royal family’s official website no longer contains a biography of Meghan Markle and has made Prince Harry’s difficult to find, despite being prominently displayed on the website for the past year. It’s a symbol of the separation between the duo in Hollywood and the rest of the royal family.
It could also be a sign that, perhaps, the couple may soon be relieved of their royal titles.
The royal family is in the process of rebranding. It started with removing Prince Philip’s image from the official family social media accounts, and the personalizing of other social media accounts.
For example, the formerly titled Kensington Palace account was renamed the “dukeandduchessofcambridge” on Instagram and Twitter. The Clarence House account is now referred to as “The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall” on Twitter, though the change hasn’t occurred on Instagram.
And it seems like this change has gone even further, with Meghan’s profile being removed from the official royal family website and Prince Harry’s being hidden.
Currently, on the website, the immediate profile available is that of the Queen, and the next large article available contains details about the upcoming platinum jubilee.
The profiles of other family members are not readily available via a navigation bar but can be easily found through a search. The Prince of Wales and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall comes up with biographies and articles of the couple.
There are also pages dedicated to the Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge. It goes over their most recent events and articles. Prince George and Prince Louis also have “feature” articles, though a search under Princess Charlotte inexplicably doesn’t immediately come up with her feature page.
Even Prince Andrew, who has been mostly relieved of all his royal duties, has a profile on the page.
What’s missing is a biography of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan.
When searching under Prince Harry, what comes up is a feature piece entitled, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visit Southern Africa.” It includes a large picture of Harry and Meghan while on tour. A direct search using the URL https://www.royal.uk/The-Duke-of-Sussex does come up with his biography.
Meghan’s search result isn’t quite as flattering.
Instead of featuring a beautiful image from their final royal tour, the first eight “articles” are press releases, with the latest being “Buckingham Palace statement on The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” The next is a piece from 2019.
A search under the URL https://www.royal.uk/The-Duchess-of-Sussex, a variation on the Duchess of Cambridge’s page, comes up with this result, “The requested page could not be found.”
This change, which seems to have happened today, signifies the end of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s presence in the royal family. (Though the family hasn’t yet deleted his biography.)
It isn’t a surprise after Megxit and all the hateful statements made by the two, but it is a decision that Harry will likely live to regret once his marriage with Meghan inevitably runs its course. That even Prince Andrew has an easily found biography, shows that there may be a chance for him to perform royal duties once again. For Hollywood duo, especially Meghan, that door is seemingly firmly closed.
While removing their biographies from the website may not seem like much, it may be a sign that the titles are next.
