Prince Harry’s Hypocritical Relationship with Netflix Shows He Doesn’t Care About Protecting His Mother Princess Diana’s Legacy, But Exploiting It

Prince Harry tells the public constantly about the impact that Princess Diana’s loss had on him, which is entirely understandable. However, there is a growing backlash and accusations of hypocrisy aimed at Harry and his wife Meghan Markle for their partnership with Netflix, which is making millions and millions of dollars off of exploiting Diana’s life, legacy and, at times, her misery.

“The Crown” is one of Netflix’s most popular and acclaimed series, focusing on the British royal family after the surprise ascension of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. Some people even consider it a historical and factual reflection of what really happened within the royal family.

But it isn’t.

The show is a drama that seeks to exploit the lives of one of the most famous families in the world for profit. It showcases the families trials, grief and struggles in order to entertain the masses.

That reality doesn’t seem to matter to Prince Harry or his wife Meghan Markle, who are now on Netflix patrol, and their relationship with the streaming giant is coming under increased scrutiny for it’s obvious hypocrisy.

Despite complaining about the way Princess Diana was treated by the press, Harry is now feeding into what happened through his association with Netflix.

For example, it’s recently come to light that the BBC lied to Diana in order to secure that explosive Panorama interview. Prince William is so furious about how they manipulated his mother, that he has demanded that the episode is never aired again.

“The Crown” is not heeding Prince William’s pleas about the legacy of damage that this interview has done to his mother and family, and will film an entire episode dedicated to the program later this year.

Harry has yet to say anything about his Netflix overlords pursuing such an episode. Of course, they’re paying his bills so the prince must sing for his supper.

Unfortunately for him, his and Meghan’s credibility and desire to protect Princess Diana’s legacy is being called into question.

If Harry really cares about his mother and what the press did to her, why is he working for a company that makes money off of dramatizing his mother’s misery? Does he enjoy watching his family’s every heartbreak, real or imagined, being exposed to the masses? What would Princess Diana think?

At least one of Diana’s close friends is stepping away from production.

Jemima Khan was close to the former Princess of Wales in the 1990s, and was contracted to write one of the fifth season episodes. She recently walked away from the project based on how a storyline featuring Diana was being handled.

In a statement, Khan said, “When our co-writing agreement was not honoured, and when I realised that particular storyline would not necessarily be told as respectfully or compassionately as I had hoped, I requested that all my contributions be removed from the series and I declined a credit.”

That Harry and Meghan refuse to do the same is telling.

He doesn’t care about preserving his mother’s legacy, but about exploiting his royal connections and his mother’s life for a paycheck.

The Sussex duo could have chosen another streaming service, one that doesn’t have quite the royal connection that Netflix has through “The Crown,” but they didn’t.

In the case of their brand, it just highlights once again that Harry and his wife don’t care about anything else but money.
