In a shocking Christmas Day break in, a disturbed man scaled the walls of Windsor Castle with a cross bow in an attempt to kill the aging and frail Queen Elizabeth II in part to address the racial discrimination perpetrated by the royal family. His reasoning raises serious questions about whether or not unsubstantiated racist allegations leveled by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could have unintentionally fueled this individual.
High profile royals and their residences are under the protection of Scotland Yard Royal Protection Officers and the general police force, this ensures that those who serve as Heads of State are shielded from deranged members of the public. There have been several security breaches over the years, including a man who found the Queen sleeping in her private apartments at Buckingham Palace and the attempted kidnapping of Princess Anne, but the most recent breach at Windsor Castle, where the Queen remains in residence, has the public, royal family and security forces deeply concerned.
The 19-year-old suspect is Jaswant Singh Chail, who sent a video of himself modeling a crossbow and claimed that he would attempt to assassinate the Queen on Christmas.
Chail said, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I’ve done and what I will do. I will attempt to assassinate Elizabeth, Queen of the Royal Family.
“This is revenge for those who have died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
“It is also revenge for those who have been killed, humiliated and discriminated on because of their race.
“I’m an Indian Sikh, a Sith. My name was Jaswant Singh Chail, my name is Darth Jones.”
Thankfully, he did not succeed in his mission. Chail was caught after scaling one of the walls of the castle’s perimeter with a rope ladder near the Queen’s private apartments, but never made it inside. He is currently being held under the Mental Health Act.
His parents claim that the situation is a surprise to them. Father Jasbir Singh Chail said, “Something’s gone horribly wrong with our son and we are trying to figure out what.
“We’ve not had a chance to speak to him but are trying to get him the help he needs.
“From our perspective, we are going through a difficult time. We are trying to resolve this issue and it’s not easy.”
This young man will hopefully give the help that he needs, but the bigger question that this security situation raises is how the racist allegations made earlier this year by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle against the royal family could have factored into this man’s disturbed mental state.
During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle essentially told the former daytime queen that a member of the royal family or even several were concerned and made comments about how dark Archie’s skin color would be. The former actress provided minimal context, and later Harry contradicted aspects of her story, but the situation still raises concerns about how someone who is mentally fragile could use this to justify attacking the royal family.
Though Harry and Meghan vehemently denied that the Queen or Prince Philip made the comments, they were still successful at painting the entire royal family as a group of unrepentant racists. Given the additional history of racism within English history, like the massacre Chail cited, and sometimes within the royal institution itself, it perhaps all factored into this man’s decision to try his luck at Windsor.
Comments made in public can have unintended consequences and can be twisted by those struggling with mental health issues, which as supposedly mental health care charity experts Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should be keenly aware of. While they may believe that a family member acted in a way that they’ve determined as racist, their decision to air this grievance publicly could have potentially cost the Queen her life. It could also be used as a reason to attack other family members in the future.
Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, received threats after the Oprah interview and the security for other family members was likely increased, costing the taxpayers money, to off set the increased scrutiny the family was under.
In no way are Harry and Meghan responsible for the thinking of a deranged and mentally unbalanced individual, but as public figures they have the responsibility to carefully consider their words and avoid anything that could result in harm to others. Perhaps this situations will encourage them to be more cautious in the future.
“but as public figures they have the responsibility to carefully consider their words and avoid anything that could result in harm to others. Perhaps this situations will encourage them to be more cautious in the future.” Hilarious. To do so would require a conscious and an ability to think beyond themselves. Impossible.
