The Queen has attended the christening of Zara Phillips Tindall and Princess Eugenie’s sons at Windsor Castle, which was a unique double baptism. Among the attendees at the baptism was Princess Eugenie’s friend and Prince Harry’s ex-Cressida Bonas, which may rub Meghan Markle the wrong way, who’s publicly stated that she was close with the princess and likely sees an ex-girlfriend as competition.

Lucas Tindall is the third child and first on of Zara and her husband Mike Tindall. Born on March 21 of this year weighing 8lbs 4oz, the little boy came rather suddenly for his parents, and was delivered on the bathroom floor. He joins his older two sisters Mia and Lena Tindall, who are seven and three respectively.

An accomplished equestrian, Zara married rugby player Mike in 2011, in the summer after the wedding of Will and Kate. Zara is the oldest of the Queen’s grandchildren and the daughter of Princess Anne. 

The boy has been seen in a stroller out with his parents, though the public hasn’t seen his face yet.

August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, the son of Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, was bornon February 9, 2021. The first great-grandchild from one of the Queen’s few titled granddaughters, August was no doubt a special edition.

When the young boy was born, Eugenie and her husband said that their hearts were “full of love for this little human.”

The princess has shared several images of her son on social media, though usually obscuring his face. Hopefully, the public may get a picture of the two editions post-christening.

As the group arrived for the event, one of the notable arrivals, apart from the Queen of course, was Cressida Bonas, who dated Prince Harry from 2012 to 2014 and was his last serious relationship before Meghan Markle. 

Ironically also an actress, Cressida reportedly was introduced to Prince Harry by his cousin Princess Eugenie in 2012, and the two went on to have a two-year relationship. Often criticized for her style and use of a scrunchie, the two broke up after she saw the massive amount of press attention Prince William, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince George received during their tour of Australia and New Zealand.

What’s rather interesting about Cressida’s addition is how Meghan Markle might react, who has claimed that she was a close friend of Princess Eugenie and spent Halloween with the princess, Jack and Harry right before the news of her and Prince Harry’s relationship broke.

If Harry is also a godparent, would she be jealous of Cressida’s inclusion as well? Was Harry even made a godparent to August or Lucas?

Though Prince Harry has historically been incredibly close with Eugenie, the strength of their relationship has definitely been tested since Meghan came into the picture. On Eugenie’s wedding day, Meghan stoked pregnancy speculation in the press by wearing a coat with the buttons at the waist undone. She and Harry also alleged shared with family and friends that they were pregnant at the wedding, which is considered a serious faux pas. 

The California-based couple then went on to announce their second pregnancy just days after Eugenie gave birth, effectively stealing her thunder in the press yet again. 

These attempts by Meghan to overshadow Eugenie is likely due to the rumors that Meghan Markle preferred the emerald tiara that Eugenie wore in her wedding to her diamond bandeau. 

It would be difficult to image that their previously strong relationship has not become strained after those rather mean-spirited attempts to steal attention. 

But hopefully, if Harry is one of August’s godparents, tensions could be set aside, and the Queen and family were able to properly celebrate these two new precious additions to the Windsor fold.

There will also be more christenings forthcoming for the Queen, as Princess Beatrice’s daughter Sienna Elizabeth and Prince Harry’s daughter Lilibet Diana will be baptized at some point in the near future as well.
